TITLE: Technician - Car and Light Duty Service
REPORTS TO: Service Manager
MAIN OBJECTIVE:Functions as a skilled-level technician who is able to perform diagnoses and repair in all areas, in addition to being specialized in particular of repair.

- Valid Drivers License
- Must maintain condition of insurability through our current liability insurance carrier
- Technician experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Professional appearance
- Computer knowledge
- Must have basic mathematical skills (must be able to add, subtract, and work with fractions and percentages)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Diagnoses cause of malfunctions and performs repair
- Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work is outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
- Road tests vehicles
- Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events
- Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
- Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
- Keeps shop area neat and clean
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received
- Maintains facilities and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the Service department operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Attends departmental meetings.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with all company policies and guidelines as written in our company handbook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Will spend eight hours or more a day moving throughout the Service department. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. Will be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Will use hand and power tools and engage in repetitive actions on occasion. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Will encounter slippery floors and other potentially hazardous conditions.
